Overview

War is not just about ASHUR pilots.

Alien creatures from the ocean's depths have risen to assault every corner of the Earth, and all of humanity — soldier and civilian alike — is pressed into the fight for survival. When the enemy owns the sea, every coastline becomes a front line.

Spanning Connecticut, Boston, Guam, Savannah, Houston, San Francisco, Oregon, and overseas, this anthology of short stories widens the lens on the global war against the invaders. Valiant tank crews, creative techs, brave officers, plucky drone operators, bold medics, cunning pararescue troops, determined ASHUR and Trident pilots, and daring militia units wage desperate battles on every shore — while new alien species and terrifying new technology emerge from the chaos.

A companion volume to the LAND&SEA series, Flotsam of War deepens the saga with side stories that fill in untold moments and carry the war forward. New readers can dive in without the earlier books, while longtime fans gain a richer, more holistic view of humanity's fight against the invaders from the deep. New York Times bestselling author Blaine L. Pardoe brings nearly four decades of mecha and military fiction mastery to every page.

Humanity is awash in battle on every front — wade into the Flotsam of War.

Author Bio

Blaine L. Pardoe is a Virginia-based New York Times bestselling author and award-winning military historian with more than 100 published books to his name. Best known to genre readers as one of the longest-serving and most influential authors in the BattleTech/MechWarrior universe, he has spent nearly four decades crafting the hard-hitting, tactically authentic mecha combat that defines the field.

Pardoe brings that pedigree to LAND&SEA, his original military science fiction series that pairs large-scale mechanized warfare with a chillingly plausible near-future alien invasion. His storytelling is grounded in a career-long immersion in American military history — expertise recognized with the Historical Society of Michigan's State History Award and a Silver Medal from the Military Writers Society of America.

Beyond science fiction, he is co-author, with comics legend Mike Baron, of the bestselling Tenure political thriller series, and author of the acclaimed Blue Dawn alternate-history series. A prolific, versatile voice across military SF, thrillers, and narrative history, Pardoe continues to expand the LAND&SEA universe for readers who enjoy realism, momentum, and relentless action.
