Overview
Clinical psychiatry focuses on understanding, diagnosing and treating mental disorders across the lifespan, integrating biological, psychological and social perspectives. Effective psychiatric care requires careful assessment, diagnostic formulation and an evidence-based mix of psychopharmacology and psychotherapies. This book provides a concise yet comprehensive guide to psychiatric evaluation, differential diagnosis and formulation of management plans. It reviews major diagnostic categories, practical treatment algorithms, medication selection and common psychotherapy approaches, emphasizing safety and collaborative care. Special topics include crisis management, comorbidity with medical illness, and culturally sensitive practice.
