Overview
Volume 2 translates foundational biochemistry into organ-system applications and diagnostic problem-solving used in everyday clinical practice. It organizes systemic biochemical pathways—hepatic metabolism, renal handling of solutes, endocrine metabolic effects, and cardiac energetics—alongside disease-associated biochemical derangements. Practical chapters cover interpretation of metabolic panels, inborn errors, toxicology screens, and biomarkers used in cardiometabolic, hepatic, and renal disease management. Case examples illustrate how biochemical reasoning guides therapy, monitoring, and prognostication. The book also highlights advances in clinical proteomics, metabolomics, and personalized medicine that affect biochemical diagnostics. An essential clinical companion for physicians, laboratorians, and students applying biochemistry at the bedside.
