Professor Neelima Gupta, a notable academician and administrator of the country is the first woman Vice Chancellor of Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar (Central University). She has the experience of serving 4 government universities as a Vice-Chancellor [Ex VC Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, Munger University, Munger (Addtl charge)]. Prof. Gupta is a Gold Medalist from Aligarh Muslim University, M.Phil, and Ph.D. from AMU, Aligarh. In addition, she was also awarded the degree of D.Sc. Prof. Gupta has visited the 5 continents of the world including USA, UK, Australia, Egypt, Japan, Poland, Singapore, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Germany, Taiwan and France. She has foreign research collaborations with Poland, Egypt and the Czech Republic. Prof. Gupta has been recognized amongst the Most Influential Women in education space in 2024 by B.W. Education. She has been honoured with more than 70 awards and distinctions, including E.K. Janaki Ammal National Award (Government of India), Saraswati Samman, the highest award in the field of education conferred by Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Vigyan Ratna Award for Excellence in Science conferred by the State Government, U.P. Dr. Sah Abidi Vishisht Krishi Vaigyanik Award by the Governor, Platinum Jubilee Award of the Indian Science Congress, ZSI Gold Medal, Indian Academy of Environmental Sciences Gold Medal, Dr. B.N. Singh Memorial Oration Award, Prof. J.S. Dutta Munshi Gold Medal, Millennium Women Scientist Award, Best Orator Gold Medal, IAES Silver Jubilee Gold Medal, Indian Medical Association Recognition, Salgare Foundation Best Scientist of the Year Gold Medal, Women of the Year-Award etc. She has featured in several programs on SANSAD TV, Delhi Doordarshan, as panelist discussing important issues related to education and research. She represents in various high powered international (Member, Governing Board of IGSTC-DST, Government of India, Member of Higher Education-U.K. British Council, Visiting Scientist at Poland DST-KBN, INSA-PAS) and National bodies/committees (Member, Governing Council of the Association of Indian Universities, Chairperson, NAAC Peer Team/UGC Committee, Expert in UPSC, Selection Committees for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors, PSC-U.P., Uttrakhand, UPHE Commission, WB College Service Commission etc.). She has been an excellent researcher and was awarded the "Centre of Excellence" by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh for the development of High Tech Lab. She has been the Principal Investigator of 11 international & national research projects funded by UGC, DST, AICTE, Ministry of Environment & Forests and UP Council of Agricultural Research. She has published 225 research papers through publishers like Taylor & Francis, USA, Springer Germany, Magnolia Press, New Zealand etc. She has participated in 424 Conferences, including 71 International and 353 National level, chaired sessions in more than 100 Conferences and organized several International and National Conferences. Prof. Gupta is a Member of the Editorial Board of several National and International Journals from USA, Egypt, Africa, Costa Rica, India and Executive Member of various scientific societies. She is the Chairman/ Expert in NAAC, UGC, Public Service Commission, selection committees and various apex bodles of national importance.
