Author Bio
Candace De Vieira is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who currently practices in the heart of New York City. Working diligently throughout the pandemic, she practiced as a mental health nurse while completing her graduate studies at Adelphi University to earn a master’s degree in nursing. Specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry, she has worked her way up the ranks from a new graduate nurse to a nurse educator, culminating in her promotion to a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her passion has always been to work with children. Along with working in the mental health field, Candace has also practiced as a pediatric registered nurse in long term care, as well as an elementary school nurse. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, she particularly enjoys working with younger children in the diagnosis and treatment of such illnesses as DMDD and ADHD. Her desire for others to have a better understanding of mental health, and to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, have prompted her to pursue her Doctorate degree in Nursing, in order to function in both leadership and nursing research. In her free time, Candace has a strong love for singing and music, doing both while volunteering at her local church.
