Overview

A gentle story about death, grieving, and finding friendship and family in the strangest places, from an award-winning poet and artist duo.

After the old lady goes away, her tabby cat seeks solace in a nearby graveyard.

As the seasons change, the cat watches people come to the graveyard. Some visit just once, while others come often. Many sit quietly with their memories, and a few sing and make music. The cat observes it all while wishing for a name as beautiful as the ones she sees on the gravestones around her. More than anything, she dreams of being warm and dry, away from the pesky fox that won?t leave her alone.

Shy and uncertain, the cat slowly gets more comfortable with the visitors. All the while, that fox is slinking closer and closer…

Will this lonely cat ever find the home she longs for?

Written by Governor General's Award?nominated poet Lynn Davies with stunning collage artwork by illustrator Jillian Thalman, The Graveyard Cat is a perfect story for starting conversations about the ways we grieve and the meaning of found family.
