Zoologist and photographer Damian Lidgard has had the privilege of spending several months every year since 1997 on Nova Scotia's remote Sable Island—much of that time when the island is closed to visitors. Having access to the entire island has allowed him to photograph Sable's horses in all seasons and in all weather conditions.
