Probiotics have been shown to promote growth, improve efficiencyof feed utilization, protect host from intestinal infectionand stimulate immune responses in farm animals. In layingchicken, probiotics increased hen-gay egg production. This bookdiscusses probiotics’ mode of action and probiotics’ practicalapplication in animal production, while explaining the use ofprobiotics in preventing and fighting animal diseases. The beneficialeffects of probiotics in animal production have been related to different modesof action.
