A color facsimile of the first edition of Zohar Hadash, Salonica 1597, which was titled: Zohar and Midrash ha-Ne'elam and Tiqqunim and Collectanea of Some Verses: Midrash on the Song of Songs and Ruth and Some of Lamentation from the Zohar from the Divine Rabbi Shimon bar Yohai, Salonica 1597, A Facsimile Edition, Introduced by Daniel Abrams, זוהר ומדרש הנעלם ותיקונים וליקוטי קצת פסוקים: מדרש שיר השירים ורות וקצת מאיכה מהזוהר מהתנא האלהי רבי שמעון בן יוחאי זלה"ה, שאלוניקי שנ"ז. Tiqqunei ha-Zohar was first printed in 1557 in Mantua, followed by the printed of the Book of the Zohar on the Torah in both Cremona and Mantua between the years 1558-1560. Many Zoharic texts were not printed in these volumes, so the kabbalists and printers in Salonica printed an additional volume to complete this publishing project. The main title of the first edition of this additional volume was 'The Zohar', and not 'Zohar Hadash' since they viewed it as another volume of the Zohar that was printed. Later reprintings changed the title to Zohar Hadash. The first edition of Salonica is extremely rare and this is the first printing of a facsimile edition, supplemented by an introduction about its printing history, relation to the other printed volumes of 'the Zohar' and a discussion of methodological issues for the future study of the Zoharic corpus.
