Overview
This book focuses on the role of microorganisms in human health and disease, examining bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic pathogens. It covers diagnostic techniques, antimicrobial therapies, and infection control measures. Emphasis is placed on understanding microbial pathogenesis and host responses. Case studies and clinical scenarios are included to illustrate the practical application of microbiological principles in diagnosing and treating infectious diseases.
Author Bio
Dr. Sheeana Gangadoo was awarded her PhD in Microbiology and Agricultural Sciences, where her work focused on the influence of nanoparticles to improve the gut microbiota and overall health of broiler chickens. As a postdoctoral researcher, she focused on the investigation of antimicrobial materials to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistant microbes and was trained on various spectroscopic and microscopy techniques. She was later employed as a microbiologist in collaboration with Australian biotechnology company, Biomebank, and successfully optimised a novel anaerobic bioreactor for the production of probiotics in treating gut diseases.
