Overview

When the lights go out in a casino town, a soul could drown in the darkness that creeps in behind it.

Reno, Nevada, has long been where fortunes—good and evil—collide. Stretching across the Truckee Meadows from the Pah Rah Range to the Sierras, the Biggest Little City guards the fastest land route from the San Francisco Bay east toward the Rockies. In the Christmas Eve onslaught known as Mongol Moon, Chinese soldiers disguised as circus performers have already executed Operation Wŭjù. They have seized Reno. Headquarters: the Ormsby Casino. The city faces an impossible choice: raise the stakes, or fold entirely.

Home-grown insurgents calling themselves the Sons of Carson refuse to fold. Against a foreign occupation dug into the neon heart of the high desert, they will gamble everything—territory, blood, and luck—to take their city back.

Who will Lady Luck smile on: the invaders in the casino towers, or the fighters who still call this valley home?

Kill Game is a Mongol Moon novella set in Mark Sibley’s near-future World War III universe—gritty war fiction of occupation, resistance, and the American West under fire. Perfect for readers of the Mongol Moon line who want a sharp, high-stakes stand-alone battle for Reno.

Author Bio

Molly Miller is a Nevada-based writer and the author of Kill Game, a Mongol Moon novella from WarGate Books set in Mark Sibley’s near-future World War III universe. She is also the founder of BigSage.Press—part micro-press, part blog—where she collects and shares her latest work.

A lifelong storyteller, Miller made her novel debut with Babylon’s Fallen Star after years of writing projects she kept for personal reading only. Her fiction is known for research-driven detail, an irreverent “oddball” sense of humor, and groan-worthy puns and Easter eggs that reward close readers. She lives in her native Nevada, where she and her husband are building a small family homestead while homeschooling their young children.

When she isn’t writing, she favors long road trips, time in the saddle, and good company. Kill Game brings her Nevada roots to the Mongol Moon map: Reno under occupation, local resistance, and the high desert as a strategic corridor in a global war.
