Overview
Chris Succo (b. 1979 in Düsseldorf; lives and works in Düsseldorf) gained international recognition through the success of his White Paintings series, shown for the first time in 2013 in Geneva. Since then, his works have become extremely popular with both collectors and art lovers. Succo’s works are based on his constantly growing archive of photographs and drawings. The resulting paintings are abstract works, executed in oil on canvas, with black and white being the dominant colors. This book is the first publication of images summarizing his entire series of paintings, photographs, and sculptures, offering a comprehensive overview of the development of his work between 2007 and 2016. The work and installation views are supplemented with personal photographs from Succo’s archive. The archive images, which are predominantly from his studio and travels, provide indepth insight into the creative process of this versatile artist. The intentional exclusion of accompanying texts amplifies the impressive documentary character of this publication. In conjunction with the book, an edition of ten unique overpainted photographs will be released.
