Author Bio
William Butler Yeats (1865-1939) is widely regarded as one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. He was born in Dublin and studied painting before mastering the art of poetry and becoming a major playwright. He was one of the founders of the famous Abbey Theatre and was acquainted with contemporaries such as George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde. In 1923, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature and his legacy and influence remains today.
