Author Bio
Sidney Perkowitz was the Howard Candler Professor of Physics at Emory University, where he studied the properties of matter and wrote more than 100 scientific papers and books. He has also sought to present science to the public, winning the 2023 Andrew Gemant Award from the American Institute of Physics for science outreach and writing articles for Technology Review, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post and others. His popular science books include Empire of Light: A History of Discovery in Science and Art (1997), Universal Foam: From Cappucino to the Cosmos (2000) and Physics: A Very Short Introduction (2019).
