Overview
YA Romantasy Centered on a Thrilling Race: In The Blinder, three desperate competitors risk their lives in an arctic race, but when catastrophe throws them together and their secrets come to light, they must decide which is more important: winning or surviving. Romance intertwines with action and a frantic competition to win the race, making for a harrowing, tense, and riveting fantasy story.
Inspired by Nordic/Finnish Folklore: The Blinder is loosely based on aspects of Nordic folklore, especially the mythological creature, the Hiiden Hirvi, a reindeer-like animal that becomes central to this story. The mountainous, wintery setting is also inspired by that region, making for a backdrop to this fantasy story that is both harsh and beautiful.
Themes of Belonging: The story is told through three POVs, all of which center around the theme of seeking a sense of belonging, or finding their place in the world. This book is about overcoming circumstances and hardship to find that place where you belong.
