Reproducible Thematic Unit in Italian with English Directions
The Family Life Reproducible Thematic Unit in Italian with English directions is comprised of novice-level activities, emphasizing real-life situations in which students interact in the target language addressing twenty first century skills for second language acquisition. The chapter includes listening, speaking, reading, writing, puzzles, and authentic scenarios. A teacher's reference core vocabulary for each unit, and suggested class fun activities are also added. Aligning our materials to the Common Core Standards through The Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century, one or more of the three modes of communication: Interpersonal, Interpretive or Presentational, is indicated for each activity accompanied by the National Standard/s utilized in the activity.
Valerie Levy, a teacher of Spanish and Italian, has been employed by Half Hollow Hills CSD for over 30 years and has taught grades 6 through 12. She received her BA in Spanish and Italian from Stony Brook University and her MA in Spanish Education from N.Y.U. She worked in Albany to help create the Blueprint for the NY State Proficiency Test and contributed to the test creation in subsequent years. In addition, Valerie Levy co-authored Passo Avanti in Italiano, textbook, workbook and teacher’s manual.
