Juan Carlos Rivera Quintana (Cuba, 1960) is a writer, journalist, and university professor. He received his degree in Science and Arts in Havana in 1978 and five years later he obtained another degree in Journalism. He later earned a master's degree in Planning and Management of Communication Processes in the National University of La Plata, Argentina. As a journalist he covered the visits of important heads of states to Cuba, including those of Mikhail Gorbachev, JosÃ© Eduardo Dos Santos, Daniel Ortega, and Felipe GonzÃ¡lez. For his recognized professional path, he received various awards for his work, including the FÃ©lix Elmuza Medal (1996), which is awarded by the Journalist Association of Cuba.
