RSSDI Textbook of Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the body does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced.

The fifth edition of Textbook of Diabetes Mellitus has been fully revised and new chapters added to provide clinicians with the latest advances and technologies in the field, as well as current treatment guidelines.

Divided into 20 sections, the book begins with discussion on the epidemiology, physiology and metabolism of the disease; its pathogenesis, diagnosis and monitoring; and management techniques including nutrition therapy and pharmacological treatments – both injectables and non-injectables.

Other sections cover types of diabetes, including in different segments of the population, diabetes with comorbidities, complications and emergency situations, and much more.
