The Read to Write book demonstrates a technique for assessing studentsAEO writing in which authentic sources are used to challenge students to use the information read within their writing tasks. The Common Core expects students to synthesize the information they read and reference it in their writing assignments. Writing of this nature requires critical thinking. Students must use higher level thinking skills to express their ideas convince someone to take a course of action or to compare and contrast two concepts.\n\nThis book enables teachers to have authentic documents for a variety of topics to give to their students to practice this style of writing. It is our goal to provide teachers with materials that can be used immediately in class with their students.
