Overview
A little character explores the joys and challenges of being both blue and green in this affirming and thoughtful story about being mixed race.
This uplifting rhyming picture book follows a blue-green narrator on a journey of self-discovery. In a world where everyone comes in different shapes, colors, and sizes, this character is often asked to fit into one color or choose between two. Readers follow along as it navigates questions like “Who am I? Where do I belong?” and will discover the most empowering answer of all: “I’m mostly me.”
Inspired by author Collin Hall’s desire to provide his daughters with a foundational approach to their multi-racial identities – as well as his own wish for a book on the topic when he was a child – Mostly Me is a powerful message to anyone who has ever felt in-between.
“Beautifully written and illustrated, charming and uplifting. I wish I had this book growing up. Mostly Me is a simple yet profound story of who we are and the questions we’re so often asked (and ask ourselves), told in a whimsical and memorable way.” – Joling Kent, CBS News correspondent
