Author Bio
About the Authors: The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia (The Nashville Dominicans) Eight centuries ago St. Dominic de Guzman, inspired by the Holy Spirit in response to the needs of his time, founded an Order with the mission of preaching for the salvation of souls. Dominic's love for God and neighbor continues to inspire the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation today, as they joyfully embrace the Church's call to the new evangelization. Founded in 1860 in Nashville, Tennessee, the Sisters live a contemplative-apostolic life of community, study, and apostolic service in a monastic framework that fosters contemplation. Through the apostolate of teaching, the Sisters have the privilege of serving students and families in the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, Scotland, and the Netherlands. Under the protection and guidance of Mary, the Sisters seek to live in fidelity to the Church and to bring others to Christ. About the Photographer Father Lawrence Lew, O.P. A Dominican priest of the Province of England, Father Lawrence shares his love for beauty and his talent for capturing it through thousands of photographs of sacred art and architecture, of people and nature. Father Lawrence reflects, "I find that, as Hopkins said, 'the world is charged with the grandeur of God,' and so my photos might be likened to an offering of thanks to God for the goodness I see around me." His gift for photography is becoming more and more widely recognized. We are very grateful to Father Lawrence for his generosity in providing the stunning photographs of stained glass contained in this book.
