Overview

George Orwell is one of the greats of modern literature and the word 'Orwellian' has become a mainstay in popular culture, but what did he really mean when by 'doublethink' and 'newspeak'? Does his book Animal Farm still serve as an important warning for the modern day? And how can we best solve the problems that plague society without falling into an even worse situation?

In this slim volume, Chris McNab answers these questions and more as he breaks down Orwell's key ideas into easily accessible chunks. With each chapter featuring famous quotes from the writer followed by a broader discussion of the great writer's insights, The Pocket Book of Orwell provides an ideal introduction to one of the world's great thinkers.
