Southampton 1920. Phoebe Collins rose to the challenge of running the family fruit and vegetable stall in Kingsland Market after her father did not return from fighting at the Front. The work outside in all weathers can be hard and there are rough characters to avoid, but with her mother and younger brother Tim to support, she is determined that it continue to be a success. Thankfully there are friends like fellow stallholder Marj, and the handsome Ben, to make the long days easier to bear.
But when Phoebe finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses something terrible, she will need all her strength to face the trials ahead and the fear that her loved ones may come to harm.

Author Bio
June Tate was born in Southampton and spent the early years of her childhood in the Cotswolds. After leaving school she became a hairdresser on cruise ships the Queen Mary and the Mauretania, meeting many Hollywood film stars and VIPs on her travels. After her marriage to an airline pilot, she lived in Sussex and Hampshire before moving to Estoril in Portugal, and then back to Sussex. June passed away in 2019.
